The Ensemble Program
Open by audition (contact branches for more information) for students with at least one to two years experience on their instruments (Choir will accept beginners). The Ensemble Program provides weekly instruction for stduents to develop musical skills that complement and build upon Individual Instruction. This intensive program requires practice and commitement with an emphasis on performance. Select ensembles will have opportunities throughout the year to participate in inter-city musical exchanges.
Gleeksman-Kohn Children's Choir:
Open by Audition to Students Ages 8-14
Celebrate music from around the
world while learning proper vocal
technique, note reading, sight-singing
skills and singing in multiple languages
as a member of the Gleeksman-Kohn
Children’s Choir. The program has two
levels – Junior Singers and
Senior Singers. The Choirs at each
branch combine for a weekly rehearsal
at which time the Senior Singers
members are an encouragement and
an integral part of the learning process
for the Junior Singers members. After
a break, the Senior Singers continue
with a 30-minute rehearsal on more
advanced repertoire. The Senior
Choirs rehearse one Saturday
afternoon a month at the Germantown Branch (GTN) in
preparation for extra performances
and outside engagements. The Junior Choirs rehearse one Saturday afternoon a month at the GTN Branch beginning in January of the season.

Jazz Ensemble Program: Ages 12-16
A one-hour to one and a half hour weekly program designed for students with at least two years
of experience on their instruments. A
comprehensive program for beginning
and intermediate level jazz students
that includes ensemble,
small combo work and classes on
jazz improvisation. Special performances at jazz venues and events in the community.
Tuition: $490 for a one hour class
String Orchestra Program
String ensembles that focus on technique, musicianship and mastery of ensemble repertoire. Also offers excellent preparation for the Advanced Study Program. Arranged by age and level.
Junior String Orchestra: Ages 8-13
One-hour weekly rehearsal.
Intermediate String Orchestra: Ages 10-16
One-and-a-half-hour weekly rehearsal.
Trowbridge Chamber Orchestra: Ages 12-18
This scholarship program includes two and a half hour wekly rehearsal
for qualified string players selected by audition each year. This group performs string orchestra masterworks
from all period. Frequent concert performances.

Band/Wind Ensemble Program: Ages 8-18
All bands/wind ensembles are arranged according to level and age of students. For students who play woodwind (flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe and bassoon), brass (trumpet, trombone, tuba, French horn) and percussion (drums) instruments.
Tuition: $220 for a one hour class.
Tuition: $300 for a one and a half hour class.
Joseph and Marie Field Chamber Music Program: All Ages
Nationally recognized chamber music
program for students of all ages and
abilities. More than 40 chamber ensembles for piano, strings, woodwinds and brass that perform regularly throughout the city. Settlement
encourages chamber music participation
as an essential part of every
musician’s training. Also serves as
excellent preparation for the Advanced
