For adult students who play drums, electric guitar, bass, keyboard, and for vocalists and songwriters. Students form bands, learn the chords, riffs and rhythms from classic rock songs, and receive guidance from seasoned faculty members.
Tuition: $170 for 10 weeks, plus $20 registration fee.
This class will teach you how to play basic rock beats and fills around the drum set. At the conclusion of the course, drummers will have the opportunity to perform with a live band. Repertoire will include classic rock and early rock-and-roll styles.

Explore the styles of African, South American, and Caribbean music on instruments such as the Djembe, Djun-Djun, Shekere, and Talking Drum in a dynamic group environment. No prior musical experience necessary.

Fundamentals of Music
Essential to music instruction, Fundamentals of Music offers theory and ear training at all levels. Students
receive a comprehensive education in
the fundamentals that includes notation,
scales, intervals, triads, musical
terminology, transposition, harmony
and counterpoint which assists
them in all of their musical studies.
Tuition: $272 for 16 weeks
Designed specifically for adults, this one-hour class covers note reading, pick and finger-style playing techniques, open position chords, and strumming patterns in several different styles, including folk, rock, blues and classical. Students supply their own instrument.

Guitar I and II
Guitar I and II classes are available for adult students who have completed Intro to Guitar or come to the class with additional experience. In addition to building upon fundamentals and sight reading, students will have the opportunity to expand upon folk, rock, blues and classical repertoire. Upon completion, students are encouraged to further their experiences by joining an adult jazz or rock band.

Intro to Piano
This one-hour class teaches the basics of playing piano in a fun, collegial setting. Students (4 per group class) will learn correct hand position, music theory, note-reading and simple five-finger pieces with basic chords. Students who sign up for subsequent 10-week sessions will extend out of five-finger position, learn accompaniment patterns and focus on more difficult repertoire. While a piano is great, adults who have an electronic keyboard will also achieve great success.

Piano I and II
Piano I and II classes are available for adult students who have completed Intro to Piano or come to the class with additional experience. All classes are formed based on student level. Stduents extend out of five-finger position, learn accompaniment patterns and focus on more difficult repertoire.

Jazz Combos
Open to adults interested in learning
the art of improvisation in combos.
Must have at least two years experience
on their instrument, be able to
read music and chord changes. All
levels are offered from beginning
jazz musicians to highly advanced
musicians.

Jazz Improvisation
Concepts and methods of jazz theory, history, and performance practice with a strong performance orientation.

Taiko Drumming Fundamentals I
This introductory five-week course focusing on
the art of Japanese Taiko drumming. Students will
be introduced to the basics which include stick
technique, traditional rhythms and highly stylized
movements. Be prepared for a satisfying workout!
Tuition: $85 for 5 weeks
Taiko Drumming Fundamentals II
Further developing subjects presented in Taiko Fundamentals I. The concept of Ji Uchi (a base or backing rhythm) is used to develop timing and ensemble. Simple Taiko composition are taught to reinforce the concepts presented.

Taiko Drumming Styles
Explores the different styles of playing the Taiko, such as Naname (slant style), Miyake style, as well as the playing techniques for the Odaiko (Big Drum), Shime, Okedo, and Katsugi Okedo. These techniques are required for learning specific repertoire. Each 5-week session will focus on one specific topic.

Taiko Drumming Repertoire
Focusing on works from the taiko repertoire. Each 5-week session focuses on one specific composition, although some songs are broken up over the course of two sessions. Students learn all the parts of each composition presented. Repertoire to be determined by instructor.

Recorder Ensemble
Be a part of a group playing one of

recorder. Explore music from the

Irish folktunes, holiday classics and

the full family of recorders - play one

Intergenerational Classes for Adults and Children
Percussion Construction: Music with Mommy, Daddy and Me
Class for both students age 5-12 and their parents. Learn rhythm, hand/foot coordination, stick control, pitch recognition and improvisation.
